GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident on Tuesday 15 February, a woman in Assam's Kamrup district was allegedly assaulted and gang-raped by 4 men disguised as policemen.

The incident took place on Tuesday at midnight at around 12:00 am in Mandira village located in the Nagarbera region. As per sources, the woman was sexually assaulted and gang-raped after a group of four people entered her residence acting as police officers.

The fake police officers covered the mouth of the lady immediately after entering the house and then attacked her with a pointed weapon.

All the four threw her in the ground and allegedly gang-raped the woman who is a mother of a child.

The victim at that time managed to scream loud asking for help and her voice was heard by some neighbour in the same locality.

The neighbours after hearing the sound of screaming went towards the house to see what was going on. However, as they reached the woman's home for help the accused fled away from the crime scene leaving the woman there.

Later police arrived at the woman's home after getting informed about the incident.

Meanwhile, the woman has been sent to the Boko Hospital near the village for medical treatment and further medical examination.

A thorough investigation has been initiated by Kamrup police to nab the culprits of the gang rape.

The victim woman has however identified 3 among the 4 accused. The three culprits are identified as Eusub Ali, Ajmal Haque and Nijam Uddin and the fourth person is not yet known.

The family members of the woman have filed a complaint against the accused and regarding the entire incident in the Mandira Police Station in Jogipara of Assam.

Earlier a few days ago, a girl from Assam was allegedly gang-raped and thrown from the top of the building by four accused in Churu of Rajasthan. Reportedly the 22-year-old girl went to Churu in search of a job which was promised by one of the accused.

The girl survived as she got stuck into the ropes outside the building from where she was thrown. She was taken to hospital and an investigation is going on about the case.
